Want to find out more about Bedford's statues? Historian Stuart Antrobus has created a reading guide featuring books, articles and more about the town's iconic public artworks.
The reading list is taken from "Bedford Town Centre Statues: A Self-Guided Walk with Street Map", by Stuart Antrobus. The full booklet can be purchased for £5 from Waterstones, Silver Street, Bedford.
You can also visit the Local History section of Bedford Central Library where you will find old photos, postcards, newspapers and lots more, allowing you to delve deeper into the history of Bedford's public statues for yourself.
You may also want to visit Bedford Heritage Library, which contains items from the local history collection that are rare, valuable or delicate, or of particular historical significance. Its collections are open on Tuesdays 9am -1pm and 2pm - 5pm and at other times by appointment.
